St. George Orphanage for Girls

The St. George Orphanage was founded by Sister Regi Daniel as an allied ministry of the IDCF on 22nd January 1998, with the recognition from the social welfare board of the state government. A three story building has been completed with room for further expansion. Special attention and care is being given to every child from the moment they are brought in. Sister Regi Daniel overlooks the personal care of each and every child at the orphanage.

St. George Home for Disabled Women
St. George Home for Disabled Women was started by the Venerable servant of God, Babu Upadeshi on the 25th anniversary of his evangelistic ministry. In the earlier years of his ministry, he had seen the miserable plight of disabled women left at the mercy of others in their homes. His desire to start a shelter for such helpless women under such conditions bore fruit, on 4th September 1991, when St. George Home for Disabled Women was established. Besides caring for their physical needs, this ministry strives to boost the spiritual and social morale of such helpless people, giving them the confidence and hope that they are indeed loved and cared for.

IDCF Vocational Program
In a developing country like India, it is hard for people to earn a livelihood with out technical skills or certification and inevitably unemployment is rampant. In an effort to alleviate this problem, Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis started the IDCF Vocational Training Program on 10th September 1992 with an initial donation of Rs. 25,000 from his own purse. A tailoring school for training unemployed helpless women was started and those who successfully completed these courses were gifted a sewing machine which would enable them to earn a livelihood of their own.

An Institute of Computer Science was inaugurated on 10th September 2005 with the aim of training poor women in basic computer skills which they can use to earn a living. The institute expects to train and bring out around 40 computer literate women every year.

Babu Upadeshi Housing Scheme
The Babu Upadeshi Housing Scheme was the brainchild of Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis aimed at building houses for the poor and needy, who don’t have a shelter to hide themselves from the rain and sun. In the fasting prayers that Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis leads around the world, he urges the people who plan to build houses to sacrifice one of their bathrooms in their plan and donate the amount to build a small house for a homeless family. Hundreds have received heavenly blessings through this scheme, as both the donor and the receiver are blessed by the Almighty God.

Yohannan Upadeshi Memorial Benevolence Scheme
Yohannan Upadeshi, the saffron clad sage and prophet who laid the foundation for the IDCF was moved by the poverty of the people, and distributed the small amounts of money he received to poor widows and the downtrodden in society. Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis, burdened with the same vision started this ministry on 10th September 1993 in the Ven. Yohannan Upadeshi’s name, to give monthly financial support to widows, orphans, the bedridden and helpless people. It is run by the offertory taken at the anniversary celebrations of IDCF units around the world and the free will donations of its members.

Sick Aid Fund

Financial aid is also given to the sick when they approach the fellowship, for the treatment, diagnostic procedures and medication.

Marriage Assistance Fund
Financial support is given to families for the marriage of their daughters who are unable to get their daughters married due to the great expenditure involved.

Brother’s Educational Scholarship Trust (BEST)
The IDCF units celebrated the 44th birthday of their spiritual teacher, philosopher, and guide Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis with the proposal of setting up a scholarship trust in his name for the educational needs of college students. Brother’s Educational Scholarship Trust became a reality on 10th September 1994, and ever since hundreds of students have been helped to complete their professional and non-professional college education. Besides scholarships, loans have also been given to students who find it difficult to continue their education with the meager income of their parents. This is a great boon in Indian conditions where students are unable to find any part time or full time employment in their student career.

President's Relief Fund
In recent times many countries have been often plagued by natural disasters. The three day annual fasting prayer of 2004 was held from Dec 28 to Dec 31 amidst the great tragedy of the Tsunami, which has become a part of history. In fact, the Tsunami had struck a village, not more than 50 miles away from the venue of the fasting prayer. In the fasting prayer Bro. Dr. Mathews Vergis proposed that a relief fund be set up, enabling the president to send immediate help in such emergencies as this. The congregation unanimously accepted the proposition and a free will offering was taken as the first donation to the President’s Relief Fund. The President’s Relief Fund donated about 1.2 million rupees to the Tsunami Relief Fund, in Kerala for the rehabilitation of the Tsunami victims.
